Description: It’s time to collect the sap from our maple trees and turn it into delicious maple syrup. We’ll learn how this naturally sweet treat is made and awaken our taste buds this sugaring season. Gain a deeper understanding of the science behind sap flow, the tools and techniques used in syrup production, and the traditions that have shaped this seasonal craft. This hands-on experience offers a satisfying blend of learning, doing, and tasting.

Are you visiting with a group of 10 or more? Please contact the Education Dept before purchasing your tickets. 

 

Directions to the Education Barn: Follow GPS directions to the Market at 15 Farm View Drive, New Gloucester, Maine. Continue past the Market on Farm View Drive and take your first left onto Valley Farm Rd. Follow Valley Farm RD, staying right at the fork in the road, until you see the Smokehouse Visitors Center (white silo) on the right-hand side. Take the right hand turn immediately after the Smokehouse down to the Family Farmyard. The Education Barn is the largest barn in the farmyard.
